Louisville Public Schools Affirm Fairness
for LGB Employees
The Jefferson County Board of Education voted 4-3 in November to extend employment discrimination and harassment protection to lesbian, gay, and bisexual workers.
Louisville's Fairness Campaign led the effort to pass those crucial protections, through its Campaign for School Equality.
Board members Joe Hardesty, Larry Hujo, Steve Imhoff, and Debbie Wesslund all voted to expand protections. Our thanks to them for letting common sense prevail over bigotry. The anti-fairness industry succeeded in prompting "no" votes from Linda Duncan, Ann Elmore, and Carol Ann Haddad.
The board also refused to include gender identity in the non-discrimination plan, leaving lots of work still to be done.
KFA extends our thanks and congratulations to the Fairness Campaign for their continued leadership in promoting fairness for Jefferson County.
