Bluegrass Derby PartyBluegrass Chapter

Bluegrass Chapter has had a very busy spring, beginning with our Awards Night Gala on Sunday March 5. In partnership with the Imperial Court of Kentucky, we celebrated the award-winning films of 2005, and partied with lovely starlets past and present.

Next on our agenda is a Derby celebration, Saturday May 6 from 3-8 p.m. at Windy Knolls Farm. For just a $5 contribution to KFA, you can join Lexington's most fabulous crowd for Kentucky's (and America's) flagship horseracing event. Please call 859-806-4114 for more information.

Later this month, we're planning a phone-a-thon to benefit the Kentucky Fairness Alliance. We'll also be looking for volunteers to represent KFA at the Windy Knolls farm Pride Picnic. Everyone is welcome to attend our May 2 meeting at the Lexington Public Library to help us plan and prepare for these events.

Bowling Green

Awards Night in Bowling GreenHere in Southern Kentucky we held a small but successful Awards Night party at the home of Dennis Curry and Jim Reed. Everyone had a great time, and we're extremely grateful to our hosts! We also extend our hearty congratulations to Bowling Green's own Zach Vincent, who was elected to the statewide Board of Directors in March.

Looking forward, we plan to get a group together to represent KFA at Nashville's Pride Fest on Saturday June 3. Contact Misty York today for more information.

Gray Dove Chapter

Richmond's Gray Dove Chapter has been getting together regularly, preparing to meet with City Council members in the fall. Planning for a fairness ordinance for Madison County is our group's main goal for this year. We're currently seeking office space here in Richmond to conduct this business.

A recent KFA fundraiser at the Bar Complex included performances by a Gray Dove member, the fabulous Phoenix Gay. Members also diligently made calls and contacted others to reach out to Senator Ed Worley, urging him to oppose Senate Bill 236. An emergency phone tree was put into action and appears to have helped sway the senator in his voting.

Gray Dove is looking forward to putting more protections in place for the GLBT community and enhancing relationships with our allies and cementing coalition building in the community. The meeting location for the chapter has changed to the Madison County Library, the third Monday of each month at 7pm. New steering committee member Lindseye Greye has also set up a new Website! www.geocities.com/kfa.graydove/

NKFA is gearing up to participate in Cincinnati's Pride Alive festival the weekend of June 10 and 11. Through our partnership with KFA state, Equality Cincinnati, Equality Ohio, and the Human Rights Campaign, we're aiming to recruit more than 200 volunteers to march with us in the parade. During the festival, we'll be recruiting Friends & Family members, identifying fair-minded voters, and raising awareness about the work we do at NKFA. Watch your e-mail for a chance to sign up, or contact Wes Wright today to volunteer.

In the meantime, we continue to meet on the 4th Tuesday of every month. E-mail NKFA for more information.
