Full & Inclusive Rights Political Action Committee

FAIRPAC is a non-partisan political action committee that helps elect fair-minded individuals to the Kentucky legislature and out GLBT candidates to local office. FAIRPAC's direct involvement in the electoral process is an essential element in the foundation for advocacy that supports the advancement of KFA's strategic and legislative goals.

KFA has been involved in the political process, public relations, direct and grassroots lobbying, and other forms of issue advocacy for 15 years. FAIRPAC completes the circle by allowing the organization to directly advocate for and against the election of candidates.

Contribute to FAIRPAC

FAIRPAC's contributions to candidates and independent expenditures in campaigns complement and enhance KFA's grassroots and direct lobbying initiatives.

In this our first election cycle (2008), FAIRPAC is supporting Democrats and Republicans, challengers and incumbents. All are critical to KFA's growing strength and aim to work across party lines in the General Assembly.

Review FAIRPAC's campaign receipts and expenses at the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance. Reports are filed at the end of each quarter.

About FAIR PAC

What is Kentucky Fairness Alliance and FAIR PAC?
Kentucky Fairness Alliance is a non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to ending discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity in Kentucky. The Full and Inclusive Rights PAC is a state political action committee (PAC) that helps elect candidates who support fairness for GLBT Kentuckians.

Who makes decisions for FAIR PAC?
The FAIR PAC Board is made up of approximately eight volunteers who are committed to civil rights for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people in Kentucky. These volunteers include both members of the Board of Directors of the Kentucky Fairness Alliance and non-members. We make every effort to insure statewide representation. Staff support is provided by KFA’s executive director and lobbyist.

How does FAIR PAC decide which candidates to support?
FAIR PAC makes endorsements based on three main criteria: position on our issues, leadership, and viability.  We send a questionnaire to every candidate who is filed to run for statewide office, which is reviewed by staff of Kentucky Fairness Alliance. PAC members work in teams to interview every candidate who seeks our endorsement whose questionnaire indicates a basic interest in and agreement with our positions on the issues. Teams then report back to the PAC committee, and based on their recommendation and discussion by the entire committee, we make endorsements.

How does the FAIR PAC support candidates?
We support candidates in a variety of ways, depending on their needs and our capacity. We give financial support, access to lists of pro-fairness voters, technical campaign support when needed, volunteers, and public use of our endorsement in campaign materials.

Why Support the FAIR PAC?
Many people are familiar with Kentucky Fairness Alliance because of our lobbying in Frankfort. We recognize that it is equally important to make sure that our state representatives reflect the values of fair-minded Kentuckians. The state legislature is key to our ability to advance civil rights protections.

It is crucial that we support the election of pro-fairness candidates. Your gift helps us send the message that Kentucky Fairness Alliance understands the importance of our elected representatives to our basic rights. Many candidates are taking a risk by accepting our endorsement, since it can be used against them by anti-gay opponents. Giving extra support to candidates in these races can make all the difference.

We have learned that our opponents are not going away, and they are actively involved in campaigns to recruit and elect anti-gay candidates. Your support can be the key to a state legislature that is able to pass civil rights legislation in both houses of the legislature, which will improve the quality of life of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender Kentuckians, and their families.
