KFA Board of Directors meeting, January 20, 2007.

Mike Handley,Vice-Chairperson
Louisville

Mike Handley was raised in the small farming community of Hartford, KY. Mike learned at an early age that LGBT discrimination occurs at every level of society, in small communities and the larger cities. After seeing, hearing, and even being the target of discrimination, Mike discovered activism while a student at Western Kentucky University. Advocating for himself and those who could not has been incredibly rewarding for him. Michael is in a loving and committed relationship and resides in Louisville with his long-term partner, Mark England. Since Mike and Mark have been domestic partners, Mike has fought for marriage equality, hospital visitation rights, fairness in adoption, and inheritance rights and death and burial rights for all citizens. Mike is very excited and looks forward to working beside and next to Kentucky's fair-minded citizens.

Ampersand. The Ampersand symbolizes the solidarity we are building through Friends & Family, and suggests the inclusiveness we are working toward. It reflects the idea that no one individual, legislator, organization, or city can carry all the water for equality. Our success lies in our solidarity.
